About Adam Backer
Born and raised in Norwalk CT, Adam has been boating since a very early age (roughly 8). Starting as a deckhand about his grandfather Henry's lobster boat, the FV Lady Elaine, Adam built a very comprehensive set of foundational skills. He later added summers skippering pump out boats for Terry Backers Soundkeeper organization and doing his own [recreational] lobster and blue crab fishing to the regular activities. Adam spent many years in California working for big tech companies, it was there in the San Francisco Bay where he was introduced to sailing, getting out as often as he could on friends boats. In 2018 Adam began planning a career shift, working towards a goal to become a licensed master and one day work full time on the water, connecting with his past and family legacy. Adam believes whole heartedly that a bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office.
